Bálvány Street (2nd floor, apartment 3). The building was hit by a bomb during the siege of Budapest, and what remained of it was demolished.

During the Pál Ranschburg memorial year , organized for the 150th anniversary of his birth and the 75th anniversary of his death , a memorial plaque was placed on the house at the corner of Október 6. Street and Mérleg Street, on the wall facing Hild Square, on February 28th, 2020. The plaque was placed in the name of the Psychology Association, the Hungarian Psychiatric Association, and the Hungarian Remedial Association.

THE HISTORY OF THE PLACE

The large apartment block was built on this block-sized ground between 1868 and 1870 in an eclectic style and became the property of landowner Péter Mocsonyi. One inhabitant of the building was world-famous engineer Tivadar Puskás, inventor of the telephone, who created the Budapest and the Paris telephone exchanges. He created the first Budapest telephone exchange at nearby 10 Fürdő Street (now József Attila Street), in a rented apartment on the 3rd floor. The ground floor of the Mocsányi apartment building also hosted a chemist’s shop. During the siege of Budapest in 1944-1945, the building was so badly damaged that it was pulled down in several phases by 1952. The resulting empty plot became Hild Square.
